Women Offering Women Support (W.O.W.S.)
with its home in Chrysalis House, is a 501(c)(3) non-profit
organization.
Why does this ministry
exist?
W.O.W.S. was founded by Tammy
Pearson. Tammy
struggled as a single mom for seven years and through
this experience learned that God's unconditional love
and acceptance is what women today need to overcome
the hopelessness of a fallen world. Tammy saw
a serious community need for a "safe haven" of
transitional housing for women with children who are
homeless, unwed teenage mothers who are in need of
a safe and loving living environment, and a starting
over place for women being released from prison. Her
vision was to find a way to help other single women
overcome the battles they face every day and help them
learn to turn to the Lord for all of their needs. She
envisioned a place where women could find not only
shelter, but the supportive environment needed to begin
a relationship with the Lord that would enable them
to succeed long after their need for shelter had been
met.
What is Chrysalis?
Chrysalis is the name of the building that
the Lord blessed Tammy with to carry out the mission
she envisioned. The word chrysalis describes
the transformation a butterfly undergoes, a transformation
which is representative of what W.O.W.S. hopes to help
women achieve. The building that was donated
is 27,872 square feet on 9.4 acres of land. Chrysalis
House was formally used as a nursing home. The
building, which is in the process of being remodeled,
will serve 12 counties surrounding Sulphur Springs. It
includes 46 rooms, a kitchen, dining room, chapel,
outer courtyard and two common areas. Once completed
Chrysalis House will accommodate 108 women and children.
How can you help?
There are several ways that you can help the
W.O.W.S. ministry. You can help by pledging financial
support to assist with costs such as utility bills,
insurance payments, repairs and materials. W.O.W.S.
is also in need of material donations and volunteers
willing to pledge their time to help make repairs and
clean up the building. An individual or organization
can also choose to "sponsor" one of the 46
rooms or any of the main rooms. Sponsors are
given the opportunity to decorate and furnish the room
in any way they would like. A plaque is then
placed on the door of the completed room bearing the
sponsor's name. To learn more about how you can
help email or call us.
We are solely dependant on contributions
from communities, grants, and gifts from people like
you.
Please feel free to contact us at any
time to find out how you can help support the work
God is doing in our community.
